Ingredients
-
4 to 6 black tea bags (Lipton, Luzianne, or Tetley recommended)
-
1 to 2 cups granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
-
4 cups filtered water (for steeping)
-
6 to 8 cups cold water (for dilution)
-
1/8 teaspoon baking soda (optional, for smoothness)
-
Lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
-
Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
-
Ice cubes
Instructions
-
Bring 4 cups of filtered water to a rolling boil.
-
Remove from heat and add 4 to 6 black tea bags. Cover and steep for 10 to 15 minutes.
-
While still hot, stir in 1 to 2 cups of granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
-
Add 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda for a smoother, less bitter taste.
-
Pour the sweet tea concentrate into a large pitcher.
-
Add 6 to 8 cups of cold water to dilute to desired strength. Stir well.
-
Refrigerate until chilled or serve immediately over ice.
-
Garnish with lemon slices or fresh mint leaves as desired.
Notes
For extra refreshing tea, use ice cubes made from brewed tea to avoid dilution. Store in a glass pitcher, covered, and enjoy within 3-4 days. Always sweeten while the tea is hot for the best texture.
